Are you sensing God during the storm?  In this audio message Pastor Bob shares with us what Jesus does for us while we are in the midst of a storm. Whatever type of storm you are going through, this will encourage you. This message is based on Jesus interaction with His disciples in Matthew 14:22-32

Sensing God during the storm is one of the great benefits of being a believer. As long as we know Jesus is with us we will be able to face whatever life brings to us.

Storms reveal the following things about us:

  1. The nature of my faith.
  2. The strength of my commitment.
  3. The level of my maturity.
  4. The healthiness of my attitude.
  5. The measure of how teachable I am.

Matthew 5:45 “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

WHY STORMS COME:

  1. WE ARE OUT OF THE WILL OF GOD.

Jonah 1:4 “Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.”

      2.  WE ARE IN GOD’S WILL

v. 23 “Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.”

WHAT DOES JESUS DO FOR US IN THE STORM?

Sensing God during the storm comes when we realize the following

  1. HE PRAYS FOR US. (Vs. 23,24)

It is wonderful to have someone pray for you such as a family member or friend, but let’s not forget that Jesus himself sees what we go through and is praying for us.

“After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

Hebrews 7:25 NIV Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”

 2.  HE COMES TO US (v 25)

He comes to us at the darkest hour.  V. 25 “ Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.”

He comes to us victorious over our greatest fears. Jesus came to them walking on the water.  Everything we fear is under His feet so we do not have to stress out about the storm. Jesus walks triumphantly over the storms of life. He has overcome the world.

Isaiah 43:1-2

“But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze
.”

3.  HE MINISTERS TO US (V. 26-27)

Vs. 26-27 “ When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

If you are going through a storm today, allow Jesus Christ to minister to you!
