It is Not Freedom but Enslavement.
“You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. ”
1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body]and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Beloved of God, Are you aware that Satan wants to trick us into thinking that our body belongs to us, and that we can do with it whatever we like? That is the Devil’s sweet lie! Those who feed on the enemies lies, will later be able to feel the pains those same lies caused. We do not own our body it belongs to God. The moment you become a believer in Jesus Christ, our bodies belong to Him. The purchase price was the shed blood of Jesus given at Calvary. That is why we must honor God with our body.
Our society is working side by side with Satan and wants us to believe yet another lie: that we have freedom to live anyway that we choose. The enemy of our soul will present us with many convincing excuses to disobey and rebel against God. But the truth is that sin hurts. It seems like you can get away with sin at the beginning. The world always offers us the pleasure of sin for a season. But when that season ends, in the end it can bring a lot of pain. Every sinful act has terrible consequences whether you believe it or not.
For example, sexual sin promises those who believe Satan’s lies freedom and happiness, but it cannot deliver freedom or any lasting happiness. It can deliver a momentary pleasure. Freedom turns into habits, and habits turn into bondage and addiction. Sexual sin gives birth to severe pain, guilt, regrets, and fears, which are an advanced level of enslavement. The idolization of sex between those who are not married, or between partners of the same sex, or adultery is just a means to cover up the real cost of not honoring one’s body the way God tells us to. More often than not, what society touts as freedom and fun often hides deep tragedy and hurt behind the scenes. It is becoming an increasingly dangerous world as our society portrays sexual sins as attractive and propagates the lie that such participation is an expression of freedom.
I want you to realize that God has our best interest at heart. As you honor God with your body you will find true freedom and happiness. That is why he strictly prohibits sexual sins: He loves us and wants the very best for us.
Here is a warning from our Holy God ,”Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; for she has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to hell, descending to the chambers of death. ” Proverbs 7:25-27.
Here are seven ways to avoid sexual sin and honor God with your body:
- Be aware that God sees all that we do.
- Seek to please God alone.
- Refuse to compromise.
- Keep your body under control.
- Hide the word of God in your heart.
- Flee from every appearance of evil.
- Pray always.
As you do these things you will honor God with your body and your spirit. As you walk in real freedom you will look forward to Jesus saying, Well done, thou good and faithful servant!
